September is a genuinely good month here — warm days, cool nights, fewer visitors, and most of the catalog still running. October gets riskier the later you book.
Still reliably open through both months: Jeti-Oguz (day and overnight yurt versions), Altyn Arashan hot springs, Karakol city tours, Skazka Canyon and the south shore. Song-Kul and Tash-Rabat, both above 3,000m, typically close by late September or early October depending on the year's first snow — treat them as a coin flip in October rather than a sure thing. Paragliding depends on wind conditions rather than the calendar, so it can go either way week to week in autumn.
