Naryn is Kyrgyzstan's least-visited major region relative to its scenery — high, dry, and open in a way that feels distinct from the greener Issyk-Kul side of the country.
Song-Kul is the region's best-known destination, a vast alpine lake used as summer pasture by herding families, reachable only by rough road and only in the warmer months. Tash-Rabat, a genuine 15th-century stone caravanserai near the Chinese border, adds a Silk Road history angle to the same general area.
